Biased Election Board - How do you expect to have a fair election??

wallsscowl04

Hello Ponca Members:

This is to make you aware of what’s going on with the Election Board who, by the way, are selected by Tribal Council. Of course, if you’ve been paying attention to meetings, since this Council took over at the beginning of 2022 it seems as though almost every entity is micromanaged and the final say is that of Tribal Council. So why have Boards if they are not going to let them make decisions?

So getting back to the Election Board…..are you all aware that there is supposed to be 5 members that consists of 1 from each District and 1 at large.

Right now there are 3 from Norfolk District 4, 1 from Niobrara/Sioux City District 1, the person that is on Omaha District 2 is from Lincoln District 3, and the person on Lincoln’s District 3 is actually from Norfolk’s District (and this same person served on Omaha’s District last time around). And why would they have the 2 on Omaha and Lincoln District flip flop? Also 2 of the Election Board members are related to the Taylor family. Tell me how this is not a biased election?

I’ve told my family members to take a picture of their envelope with their signature and the ballot beside it with the check mark by the name and send it to me to be assured that all ballots get counted. That way, if any ballots are spoiled, I will have a copy of how many voted for this person. I suggest the rest of you that are running do that too. Otherwise, I can assure you that all your votes will not be counted; only those of the chosen few that the Chair wants on there so that they can continue to follow her lead like they have for the past 2 yrs.

We all need to pull together as Ponca members and get this Election process changed or it will never be fair.

Sincerely,

Anonymous Concerned Member
