Sometimes politics can be dirty and petty.
The video below shows one of the current Tribal Council reps of District 2, also now up for re-election, holding on to things from 2016. The attack on Susie Baker's personal beliefs is unnecessary and petty. People are entitled to what they believe. It was mentioned likely to further assassinate the character of Susie Baker. If Susie Baker says racist things, why would they have not set her up for ethics classes or couseling? Why was that not part of her punishment? They suspended her without pay for 6 months, but did not match the punishment properly to the alleged offense. Racism nearly wiped the Ponca people out. Should Ponca leadership punish and harm the elders who still have out-dated beliefs? The elders of this tribe have suffered immensely at the hands of non-natives. Should they be harmed by their own people for carrying that trauma still? This is just food for thought.
There are strong connections to this attack on Susie Baker as a possible ruse to get her out of the way, so that Candace Schmidt can get her hands on the people who are recalling her. Candace Schmidt's brother is a direct relative who benefitted with additional pay as interim Tribal Secretary during Susie's suspension. Candace Schmidt suggested the treasurer, Kyle Taylor (brother), take over in the interim as Tribal Secretary. This video is included second for your review.
